ABOUT

stage候台BACK is an artist run space dedicated to experimental projects founded by German artist Susanne Junker in April 2008 in Shanghai, China. stage候台BACK was formerly based in the 696 Weihai Road studio complex in Shanghai. After the eviction of 696 Weihai Road by Chinese authorities in May 2011, stage候台BACK and Eastlink gallery have merged operations, working out of the Eastlink space in M50 (50 Morganshan Road) Shanghai. Eastlink is one of China’s earliest contemporary art galleries, having worked with the majority of China’s now well known avant guarde, from Huang Yan to He Yunchang. The space will now have alternate shows, whereby Eastlink will focus on managing its extensive archive of historic works and stage候台BACK will continue its program of cutting edge contemporary exhibitions by new international and Chinese artists. It endeavors to add to the diversity of the relatively homogenous art scene in China today.

stage候台BACK 是由德国艺术家Susanne Junker 于2008年四月在上海建立的一个致力于探索体验新型艺术的艺术空间。2011年五月由于当局对于前艺术中心威海路696的改造，stage候台BACK 与东廊艺术合作兼营并搬迁到新址M50（莫干山路50号）。东廊艺术是一家较早展示中国当代艺术的美术馆，并与大多数中国当下知名的先锋派艺术家合作过，从黄岩到何延昌。新的艺术空间会举行交替的展览，东廊艺术将继续致力于管理推荐它过去收集的大量作品，stage候台BACK 将继续通过与中外艺术家的合作来扩大当代艺术的影响。stage候台BACK 致力在中国推广与当代艺术相关的同类艺术作品。
